I have been working on pickguard replacement on myD12-28 and have now laid on six coats of lacquer flush with the old outline. What is the cure time before I blend the outline and block sand level before installing the new guard? Suggestions would be welcomed.

I'm not an expert here by any means. If it is nitro I would probably leave it a few weeks. Maybe some repair guys can give you a more exact time.

I would leave it at least four weeks, but if the old and new are just level now, guaranteed it will sink below the level of the old surroundings. I f thats not a problem because the new guard is over it, then I woudldo the 4/5 weeks, longer if you can wait. Otherwise, you will want to level it, then watch it sink for a few more weeks after that, then re level and buff. Even then it wont likely stay flat. Nature of the beast I'm afraid.
oh and another thing - if your new lacquer overlaps the old outside the guard outline, that will likely sink some too as you have disturbed and re-newed the solvents in the older areas.
